Maria Carmela, in better control with her pump since 2012

I used multiple daily injections for 17 years before I started to think about getting pregnant. My doctor told me I needed to get to lower levels of HbA1c and achieve glycaemic stability to have a pregnancy free of complications, so he offered me an insulin pump. With MDI, my HbA1c was 8.3% (67.2 mmol/L), but with pump therapy it dropped to 6.4% (46.4 mmol/L). Shortly after, I found out I was pregnant. I often joke that our child is the son of my pump. I am very thankful.
