Paola's diabetes story

In better control with her pump since 2001

I was 7 years old when I was diagnosed with diabetes and spent years on MDI. Back then, I didn’t think much about the possibility of long-term complications, but over the years poor glycaemic control was causing me serious eye problems. That was when my diabetologist recommended switching to an insulin pump. Amazingly, after many therapies and operations, and with the better glycaemic control provided by my insulin pump (today, my HbA1c averages 7% - 53 mmol/L). I’m thrilled to say that my sight improved significantly and I have no sign of any other complications!
